Big Family Goals for A Strong 2023

It is totally uncool to create New Years resolutions, but doggonit, I can’t help myself.

There’s something about a fresh start that makes me want to try for something new.

So Happy New Year!

In this post, I’m sharing some before and after pics of our home addition from last year.

And I want your input on this blog! So pretty please read on and leave a comment. 🙂

Setting Our Goals for 2020

Every year, we try to set new goals for our family.

Sometime in the first week of January, my Hubby and I sit down and agree to what we hope to accomplish for the year.

In 2019, this just did not happen.

Our theme for the year was basically “hold on tight and try to get through it.”

I gave birth to our sixth child in late February.  And in the midst of all of that, we had to plan a spine surgery for our 5 year old.

We also had a lot of other unusual situations calling our attention.  And all of it was just too much.

I can’t say I honestly missed setting goals last year…to be honest, it was the last thing on my mind.

But still…

I am so excited to get back to setting them for 2020!

Money and Life Goals 2018: August Check In

I didn’t get to the July check in of our yearly goals because…life.  We’re enjoying our summer, and a small blogging break is just what I needed to get the creative juices flowing again!

Happily, we’ve been able to cross a few things off of our list this summer.

The nice thing about having yearly goals is that it keeps me grounded.  When I find myself on Pinterest dreaming of new projects to take on for the house, I don’t go into debt trying to take on more project than we can afford.

Instead, I focus on getting these projects done.  And I make a list of things I’d love to be able to do next year!

Money and Life Goals 2018: June Check In

Money and Life Goals 2018: June Check In

The blog has been pretty quiet for the past month while our family trudged through the month of May.  It’s arguably our busiest time of the year.  There were fun days of chaperoning field trips and crazy days putting together last minute projects.

Mostly I’m just glad we got through it!

I am happy to say that we were able to work on some of our goals this month.  That meant other goals had to slide.  But I’m learning to be ok with that.

I tend to try to cram more things into a day than 24 hours can hold, so setting more realistic expectations is a good thing.

But I’m so happy we set these goals.  Because without this monthly check in, we probably wouldn’t get things done.

Putting things off until “some day” is a strength of mine.  😉

Money and Life Goals 2018: May Check In

After the whirlwind excitement of last month’s announcement (when we finally paid off all credit card debt after 27 months of hard work!), we are settling into a new normal.

The first order of business has been finding deals on long overdue updates like new kitchen towels (the ones I’ve been using look like rags!).  We’re finding our footing and trying our best to take things slow.  It wouldn’t do to put ourselves right back into debt!

I’m pleased that we were able to work on some of our goals last month!  It’s such a treat to put our money to work for ourselves rather than sending it all in to a big company.
