Another week is in the books.  Did you find ways to save money this week?  I’m sure you did!

When you stop to think about it, most of us have developed certain habits over time that naturally lead to saving money.  Using the last drop, flipping switches.  Small things that add up to big savings.

The 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week is a series that celebrates those little things that build up to big savings.  Read through our brand new 5 ways today, and be sure to go back and check out previous posts for even more money saving tips.

The 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week

5 Ways We've Saved Money This Week 33: Follow this family as they record the new ways they've saved every week.

Life insurance.  We’re in the process of getting a new term life insurance policy.  If you’re a Dave Ramsey listener, then you already know why we are specifically shopping for term life insurance.  If not, he explains it pretty well here.

If you are spending a lot of money on whole, universal, or variable life insurance, you need to rethink that policy.  You are likely spending a lot more on insurance than you should be.  Term life is very cheap when compared to the other types of life insurance.

If you like the idea of building up wealth, why do that with a life insurance policy?  You’re better off getting a cheaper term life policy, and then investing the extra money that you save yourself.  You’ll have more control over your money that way.

To me, life insurance helps me to sleep better at night, knowing that my kids will have money to live off of should the worst happen to me and my Hubby.  I don’t need it to be an investment, too.

Rewear clothes.  I’m willing to bet that a lot of you already do this one.  How often are pants actually dirty after one wearing?  Sure; if you’ve been working in the barn all day, those puppies are going to need cleaned (probably on a “super dirty” cycle).

But if you’ve been sitting at a desk all day, they’re probably fit for another wearing.

Same for towels.  When people actually remember to hang them nicely, they dry out really well in a short amount of time.  Then they still smell great and are fine to use for more than one shower.  (The trick here is convincing everyone to actually hang up their towels!)

Pull Ups at Dollar General: Money saving digital coupons

Dollar General digital coupons.  I shop at Dollar General pretty frequently.  I like to get my pet food there on Saturdays, because they often have a $5 off of $25 coupon good on those days.

Then I found out that they now have digital coupons.  I love this!  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten the coupon at home.  So being able to just punch in my number at checkout is perfect.

Baseball pictures.  We’re getting pictures taken of our baseball teams.  As tempting as the adorable cards are with my little athlete’s stats on them, I turned them down.  I’m content to have a simple picture of my little guy or girl with his or her teammates from this year.  That saves a lot of cash!

Cheap friends.  I think that it’s important to have friends who appreciate where you for who you are.  Even if “who you are” is a person who is in the midst of their #yearofno.

I had an extremely rare night on the town with some girlfriends to celebrate a couple of birthdays.  Luckily, my friends don’t like to spend a ton of money, either.  We did eat at a restaurant, but then we enjoyed some entertainment courtesy of some free tickets one of them had won.

It was so much fun to spend time together window shopping and just having some girl talk.

Those are the 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week.

I hope these tips will help you in your own frugal journey.
