Welcome to another episode of the 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week series! Each Friday, I like to think back over the ways we’ve saved money. It keeps me motivated to save and (hopefully) gives you new things to try in your own home.

Here are the 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week.
Froze peppers past their prime. My parents have a lovely garden that gives them tons of produce. And they are kind enough to share it with me.
My kids love bell peppers, but several sat in the fridge for too long. They were starting to get soft. Since they weren’t great for eating fresh anymore (but also hadn’t gone bad!) I cut them up and froze them.
Now I can use them in recipes and as pizza toppings.
Free tickets. A lady at church offered our family free tickets to a local amusement park. That was exciting! We usually can’t afford to take the entire family to a place that has a steep ticket price. The kids had a blast!
I had to pay to park. But since the car was inside the park, we didn’t have to buy any food or drinks while we were there. We just hiked back to the car. For $8 for nearly the entire family to enjoy a day at an amusement park was an awesome deal.
Prepped at home. The thought of prepping your family for an emergency or a disaster can feel overwhelming. But I found 5 cheap or free ways you can prepare your family right now. Which not only saves money, it can also keep your family safe.
Sold items at Once Upon A Child. I had a pile of items I thought I’d have a yard sale with. Well, I had a yard sale in March that was just ok. And I haven’t had a single Saturday available (with good weather) ever since.
Fine, I can take a hint. A yard sale isn’t happening right now. So I took several items to a children’s consignment shop. I made a bit of money to put towards debt payoff.
See ways to earn more when selling to resellers.
Tupperware party. Did you know that there are still Tupperware consultants? I didn’t! Well, not until my friend brought it up to me. I ended up booking a party.
I got some free items for being a hostess, as well as free stuff for having my friends make purchases. It wasn’t the most frugal thing ever, since I did buy snacks and drinks.
But I noticed that I didn’t really want to buy too many things anyway. Between saving money and keeping the house free from clutter, items really have to earn a place in our home before I purchase them.
Those are the ways we saved this week!

How did you save this week?
That’s awesome that you got free tickets to the amusement park! I’m sure your family had an awesome time! We’re not very well prepared for an emergency so I’ll have to check out that post next 🙂
I signed up! We need you. Frugalistas in training, still struggling and not pleased about it!
Awesome! Thanks for reading. 🙂
You can do Tupperware parties over Facebook, too! As well as Candel-Lite (or however it’s called, lol). My mom had one a little while back, over Facebook, and ended up getting a TON of free stuff, because so many people had access to it.
Also, the cheese grater (the one what stands up with the removable grater and measurements on the side) is the best Tupperware item ever. Well, if they still make it, that is!
That would be easier and cheaper. Of course, I like the girl time of a party, too!
We saved money this week by not going out to eat for dinner one night as we usually do. I determined we needed to eat from the pantry so we did.
Also, when I have a pepper that’s too soft to eat raw, I almost always roast it in my oven using the broiler. Then I cut and seed it and freeze. I use it in chili or for a yummy roasted red pepper linguine.
Sounds great! We are always looking for ways to save money as well! Thanks for sharing!
God bless,
Patty
Great job on the amusement park tickets and resisting the urge to buy food while there! Trips to those places can really add up!!
I recently got back on the meal-planning bandwagon, which simplifies life a great deal, and eliminates the need for multiple grocery shopping trips throughout the week, thereby saving me money.
I had no idea Tupperware parties were still a thing! Cool to get some freebies! 🙂 I love consignment, and you’ve reminded me I need to take my bag of kids fall/winter stuff over to my favorite shop ASAP! 🙂
I love your “5 Ways We’ve saved…” posts Jamie! I have been saving my veggie scraps and things just about to go bad in the freezer to make homemade veggie stock. I finally did it for the first time recently and even having never done it before and not knowing what I was doing, it came out great! It felt amazing to use homemade stock in my soups instead of expensive (not to mention heavy to lug) store bought broth. Small wins!
Great ideas to save money and this is so essential to learn! I will pin. Thanks.
I didn’t know they still did Tupperware parties either! I don’t know if I’d have the restraint not to splurge on it though – I’m a little addicted to buying storage solutions!
Thanks so much for sharing over at #FridayFrivolity 🙂
Way to score on the amusement park tickets. I balk at tickets for the three of us so we haven’t gone anywhere in awhile. Thanks for partying with us on #FridayFrivolity
Love the idea of freezing peppers past their prime! Do you know if you can do that with cucumbers? I have a TON of them right now, and I don’t want to make more pickles! 🙂
I’m not sure you could freeze them well, but I have heard of people dehydrating them. Then you re-hydrate when you’re ready to use. I haven’t tried it myself, so if you do let us know how it works!
Great post! Always looking for new ways to save money! Thanks for sharing your post on Our Simple Homestead Blog Hop, as one of the co-hosts I will be featuring your post this week! Look forward to what you’ll be sharing this week! See you Thursday!
