How Does Decluttr Work?

Install the free app on your phone and scan the bar codes to quickly find out how much you can make on things that are taking up space in your home.

You’ll need to find at least $5 worth of things to send.  How many items that will take depends on how in demand your things are.  If you have games for older systems or DVDs that have been out for years, you’ll need more of them to make up a shipment.  If you’re like me, you won’t have any problem finding a box full of things you’re ready to part with.

Hint: They don’t accept VHS, so you’ll have to either donate them or keep them in a box in the attic for future generations to ponder.

Extra Selling Tips

Don’t put more than 200 items in a box, or it could be rejected.  That would be quite a heavy box!  And since Decluttr covers the shipping costs, this won’t save you any money anyway.

Be sure the items you ship are in working condition.  Otherwise, they could be rejected.  Due to the amount of items they receive, Decluttr does not mail rejected materials back to you.

We didn’t have problems with used things being rejected.  Just be reasonable…if you wouldn’t buy it from a thrift store, no one else will want it, either.

All DVDs, CDs, games, etc. must still have a case to be sold to Decluttr.

There are no sneaky fees.  What the app tells you is what you’ll get!

How Does Shipping Work With Decluttr?

Once you hit the $5 minimum, you won’t have to worry about any shipping costs.  Decluttr will email you a label to print and stick on the box.

Don’t go out and buy a fancy box.  We used an old wipes box.  If you don’t have one on hand, ask your grocery or local dollar store if they have an empty box you can take home.

UPS is the shipper of choice for Decluttr.  Drop your box at any UPS location.  Or set up a pick up time if you want to avoid forgetting it in your car for weeks.

What’s the Turnaround Time?

We put together our package and printed our welcome packet one day.  They had our shipment within 7 days.  Two days later, the payment hit my PayPal account.  It was quick and painless.  It felt like getting paid for cleaning my house!

If you don’t use PayPal, no worries.  They also pay by check or direct deposit.
