Each January, my hubby and I come up with a list of goals for our family for the year. We also like to write down a general idea of where we want to be down the road to make sure our goals are heading us in the right direction.
So here is what we are doing to progress ourselves towards our goals this week.
Home Goals
We have lived in this house for seven years. It’s a 1950s home, so as you can imagine the to do list is very long! Sometimes I walk through the house and imagine the things a realtor would tell us we had to do to get it on the market. Then, instead of doing those things for someone else, I do it for us. It’s much more fun that way!
- paint the front door
- clean the porch and get ready for fall decor
- fix the back door (this is hubby’s to do and that “simple” project has turned into a humdinger, let me tell you!)
- repair and rehang the gate for the goat pen (ok, so that’s a barn to do)
- repair and rehang the gate for the back yard
As you can see, I’m trying to keep outdoors as much as I can while the weather is still nice!
Money/Frugal Goals
We divert a little more than 15% of hubby’s paychecks into a separate checking account every month to help us pay down debt. It’s a mental game I play with myself so that I don’t even consider that money income and we can get our debt paid off a little faster.
- make 2 homemade frugal breakfasts
- get more uncomfortable/plan ahead better
- plant a lettuce bowl
Family Goals
- have a date night with hubby, even if it has to be a home date
- take 2 kids out for one on one time
Blog Goals
- write 5 posts
- reach 60 Facebook followers
- read 6 posts by other bloggers per day so I can learn from others
Personal Goals
I am terrible at doing things for myself! I want to be more proactive in this area for sure.
- get 8 hours of sleep at least 5 nights
- walk 10,000 steps 3 days
- make an eye doctor appointment
So those are our family goals for the week. What goals are you progressing towards?
I’m visiting from Plucky Gumption! I’m busy! You look busy too! I love your goal of saving 15% of your hubby’s income. What a great goal! Have a great month and let’s check in on each other in October. =)
Thanks for sharing your goals over on my September goal post. I love how specific your goals are!
Your Home Goals made me think that my husband and I should probably try to set them. We have had too many things get pushed off!! I think that would be helpful for us to do.
It is so easy to let home projects get away from you, especially when you’re chasing kids all the time like we are! We have to get specific about what we want to accomplish or it will never get done.
I have lots of different goals just like you, finance, family time, blog, friendships, personal health, work related. I love how you have identified just a couple in each area and they are easily measured. We are definitely trying to build date night in more often too. Good luck with them all.
I used to make willy nilly goals, but I find that I’m more likely to stick to goals that are SMART. Thanks for visiting!
I love you wide range of goals! Good for you – especially love the part about setting aside 15% to pay down debt. I have made that a big goal of mine as well – and try to keep writing posts about it. If I find something that works for me, I try to write a blog post about it in the hope that it will help someone else as well. Thanks for sharing your goals – keep us posted on your progress. 🙂
Thanks for your encouragement! It means a lot to me. And I do want to post so I can be held accountable in my goals.
I like how you just laid the plan all out for us! Getting is down on solid paper (or computer haha) is probably a GREAT push in the right direction. Thanks for sharing with #OMHGWW! I also really love that you specifically set aside 15% right off the bat for debt. Even though we are strapped tight as it is, setting aside a specific amount right after the direct deposit hits is a sure-fire way to budget on less without having to see the $ you’re missing. Love reading encouraging posts like this! 🙂

Thanks so much! I really need the extra push of being held accountable, and putting it out there in the great wide world (or wide internet…) is definitely one way to do that, I guess. haha!
I love your wide range of goals. Sounds like me. I must get my front porch ready for fall too. Thanks for sharing
Variety is the spice of life, right? 🙂
I think it’s great how you have broken down a lot of these goals, which might seem super overwhelming, into bite sized pieces. I’ve found this is the best way to actually accomplish your goals and not let them go to the wayside when life gets crazy.
Definitely the only way I can seem to handle goals these days. Thanks for the visit!
What a good list. I’m stealing some of you’re ideas. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I try to visit different ones every day myself.
Thanks for joining us at #JoyHopeLive and sharing your goals.
Wow! those are great goals! I found you through the money savingmom.com linky. I have a goal of cleaning off the buffet, and getting more visits per day at my blog. http://www.oldefashionmom.com I will comment back!
Thank you! Good luck on all of your goals.
These are great goals! I usually do something like this on New Year’s Eve (its’a personal tradition), then I check them every now and then throughout the year just to make sure I’m on track. I’m usually not! Thanks for sharing with us at Funtastic Friday. Hope to see you again at this week’s party:-)
We like to do goals around New Year’s, too. But back to school time feels like a second chance! Thanks for hosting.
Good job tackling your home and blog goals, I do a monthly goals post and I still need to get September’s done! Thanks for sharing with Small Victories Sunday Linkup. Pinning to our linkup board and hope you found some great posts to visit this week!
Thank you for hosting the party! I did find several great posts on there.
Thank you for sharing with us at #JoyHopeLive!
