The hustle and bustle of the season is alive and well at our household! It can be overwhelming sometimes, but with a plan in place we are trying to be more joyful than busy.

Personal Goals
Moment of total honesty; I am doing just terribly with these goals! I can’t seem to find a time I am willing to dedicate to making these things happen. I need to want to do this more.
- Daily Bible readings
- exercise 4 times
- Finish reading Better Than Before and blog about it
- Eat 5 fruits and/or veggies per day
How do you create time to work on personal goals? Do you schedule a time in your planner for exercise or reading? I’d love your best tips…if you have blogged about this topic, be sure to leave me a link so I can learn from you.
Good for you being so up front and honest with your goals! It’s hard, especially when there are many that you haven’t quite checked off yet (trust me, I’m there!)
What has helped me accomplish certain goals like exercise and Bible reading is making it a part of my morning routine. Every morning when I get up I do my devotions right away and exercise before going on to make breakfast and start my day. Of course, I don’t have children yet, so this is much easier for me to do, but if you can make it a set part of your day, it can really help!
As far as reading goes-Audio books are the BEST! I listen to them while driving, cooking, and cleaning, and it helps me get through way more than I would otherwise. I also try to read for 10-15 minutes before I go to bed.
Great job on your savings goals, keep up the good work!
Oh, audio books! That’s a good idea. I could listen while I’m cleaning up. Our 2 year old makes getting up early very difficult right now, but I’m hoping to devote more early morning time to those things in a different season of life. Thanks so much for your suggestions!
Your goals are challenging! You have a more things on your list undone! Wishing you well…
Regarding mine, I had to slow down and relax. Keeping up with the pressure is weighing my health down a bit….so you see, I am learning to tone things down a bit.
Great to spend time here with you.
Blessings to you, Jamie
I wish I knew why things had to break at the most inconvenient time! The battery in our truck is on its way out, and we were able to purchase a new one (yay) but not able to get it in yet because of lack of tools…and now it’s going to be raining for about the next week, so even if we do get the tools, it will be no fun at all to be replacing it (apartment living, so no garage or covered space to do it in).
So far as making time for personal things, this is something I know my mom struggles with. She wakes up at the crack of dawn to get through traffic to get to work (she lives on the other side of town, so it’s about 40 minutes in), works all day, then deals with anywhere from an hour to two hours in really bad traffic to get home. By the time she’s home, she is just out of energy. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t things that need to be done! What I keep telling her is to just make sure she has everything written down that she needs to do (she uses a planner, and I am also showing her how awesome Google Keep can be for lists – location reminders to go off for a list when you get home) and to just try and get to one thing each day. If that’s just reading because she can’t do anything else, awesome. If that means doing the dishes (luckily, there are other people in the house that can do those most days) and running the dishwasher, cool. If it’s a load of laundry, great. I believe the same thing could be applied here. Keep it on your list of things to do for the day (of course, more than likely, it would be best to just write “Personal Time” to not write down all of the things) and try and take even just ten or fifteen minutes for yourself. It’s not much, but over 7 days, fifteen minutes for just you is an hour and three quarters or so. Which also doesn’t sound like much, but it is definitely better than nothing!
You’re right. I’m probably trying to tackle too many things at once and should take a more gradual approach. Then I won’t feel overwhelmed by trying to get it all in! Great idea. Sorry about your truck battery. :/ It’s frustrating when things aren’t working right!
