When I agreed to help build a brand new non-profit PTO from scratch with a few other enthusiastic parents, I had no idea what I was getting myself into! We’ve been working hard to get everything ready for back to school on a very limited budget.
At least I knew a little about dealing with a budget anyway!
Needless to say, I’m a little fried from all of that busyness, so I apologize for not getting a new 5 Ways post up last week. I’m glad you didn’t give up on me!
The 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week 89
Any time you want to read through a long list of money saving ideas, you’ll find the archives of all of the 5 Ways series here.
But let’s dive into another week of ideas!
Pop Quiz
No, I’m not going to quiz you! 😉 Hubby did take a quiz, though, and managed to get $10 taken off our insurance per paycheck. That’s nothing to sneeze at! (Pun intended…)
Many places are offering perks like this to help lower insurance costs, so be sure to ask about this at work.
Finished Those Half Done Projects
Are you like me and have too many half done projects all over the house? I decided it was time to knuckle down and finish what I’d started. I’m a serial starter but not finisher, so when I managed to get the screens redone and the pantry cleaned and reorganized I was so happy!
Not to mention the cost of supplies. I have an embarrassing amount of supplies lying around for projects I never really got to. I’m dedicated to not letting that money go to waste anymore!
Picnic In The Park
Our town has a weekly picnic in the park throughout the summer. We’re often busy with baseball and other events. And frankly, I like to hang out at home when we have some down time.
But now I wish I’d made the effort to go to these picnics more often! It was so nice to connect with friends and members of our community. Wouldn’t our world be a nicer place if people spent more time face to face?
Fixed the Mower
My Hubby has been fighting the mower all summer. It’s like a bit in an old sitcom. I was about ready to throw in the towel, tired of dealing with tall grass. But he was able to get it fixed for far less than the price of even a used mower. And now we’re back in business!
Free Music!
Are you a Garth Brooks fan like I am? Right now you can get The Chase and In Pieces albums for free from Amazon! I adore this music. It takes me right back to my youth. *Le sigh…
Those are the 5 ways we saved money this week!
Tune in again next week when I hopefully have a bit more sleep and sanity… 😉
If you’ve ever worried too much about money, I think you’ll like this post.
