If you’re feeling seriously bored at home, here are some simple ways you can use your time. Believe it or not, you can have fun at home!
At some point, you just cannot spend one more minute scrolling Facebook and playing “Is this scary story true…or not??”
It’s all too much!
And you know darned well that if you let the kids play hours of video games, it turns them into monsters.
(Seriously. Mine fight like cats and dogs if they get more than a couple of hours per day on screens. I don’t know the science and I don’t want to look it up. I already feel like I’m living a weird social experiment here.)
What this calls for is a tried and true list of things you can actually DO.
Even if you’re stuck at home and seriously bored.
Since the first post I wrote up on this topic has been so super popular, I figured it’s high time to give you…

The truth is that it takes several months of hard work before you can earn an income from your blog. (So the sooner you start, the better.)

In fact, this webinar is totally free. You’ll get a ton of amazing information from Crystal Paine (who runs Money Saving Mom, a super successful blog you’ve probably heard of).
Family Fun Night
Minute to Win It Games
These are so much fun! All Minute To Win It Games are supposed to use common household items, anyway.
You have one minute to see who can do the best at the challenge.
Try things like:
- Can you keep 3 balloons in the air for 1 minute?
- How many socks can you toss and land completely on a stool in 1 minute?
- How many pieces of junk mail (or paper) can you crumple with your non-dominant hand in 1 minute?
- How long can you keep a tissue up in the air using a blow dryer?
There are tons more ideas out there, too.
Ask Would You Rather Questions
Would you rather questions are pretty fun and thought provoking.
Bet you’ll find out something you never knew about your friends and family! (You can do this over the phone, too.)

Redecorate
Growing up I always shared a room with my sister.
Now I’m the type of person who puts furniture in a place and never moves it again.
My sister, on the other hand, likes to rearrange furniture every few weeks.
That didn’t work out so well for us back in those days. But now, I’m thinking moving a room around (or borrowing decorations from a different room) might be a nice change of pace.
Deep Clean
Another way to give something a fresh new look. Deep clean that pile of mess you are tired of looking at. Or the appliances that used to be white.
Read Those Books
You know, the pile you’ve collected over the years but never had time to read?
Take a Course
You can take a ton of courses completely free on Khan Academy.
Or, if you’ve been wanting to get certified in something… try Coursera. They have tons of college courses available.
Bird Watching
This is as easy as looking out your windows. How many different birds can you identify?
Make Your Food Last
A few simple ideas will make your food last longer.
Post It Note Bomb
Cover a door, mirror, wall with post it notes talking about things you love about your family members or roommates.
You could also hide them in random places to be found throughout the day.
Play Hide the Statue
Take that random knick knack you have on a shelf and start moving it around the house.
Whoever finds it gets to hide it next.
YouTube Karaoke
Why not? There’s no one around to hear you.
Learn How to Save Money
Nah, it doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, this challenge makes it (dare I say?)…fun!
Hide and Seek
How long has it been since you played? I bet it’s even more fun now!
Now you’ve got ideas…which one will you do at home first?
You’re neck is going to thank you for the break from looking down at your phone for a while. 😉
