Getting out of debt takes a great deal of motivation. Our family has set a BHAG (a big, hairy, audacious goal) to pay off a heavy chunk of debt, so we know that as well as anyone!
That’s why I enjoy reading the best books for getting out of debt. And when I find one so helpful that I can’t put it down…well, I’ve got to share it!

There are two times of the year that I feel especially compelled to examine what I am accomplishing with my life. One is the start of a new school year. The other is New Year’s Day.
I’m a little boring and predictable like that. But that’s ok.
During the first week of each new year, I sit down with paper, pencil, and the hubby. We discuss what we’d like to accomplish with our new year. Some years we feel excited to achieve big things. Some years we feel tired and just try to finish nagging tasks.
I am excited that 2016 is going to be a “big thing” year! Some people call goals like this a BHAG. Big, hairy, audacious goals. You can only accomplish a BHAG if you are in the right frame of mind. It’s not something you can go into half heartedly. So I’m happy to find that both myself and my hubby are in that frame of mind. 2016 is going to be an awesome year! (Because we have determined to make the best of it regardless of circumstances.)

Our family is on a money saving journey as we raise a bunch of kids on one income and attempt to pay off some debt. We are always on the lookout for creative ways to save money. That’s not to say that we are experts at frugality! I actually consider us to be students of thrift.
One of the first points that crops up when a family is striving to save money is food. Grocery bills. Dining out. Starbucks runs. Drive thrus.
And ordering pizza.
That’s one of my weaknesses. About once a month I have the kind of day where time gets away from me. Before I know it, it’s suppertime and the family is asking what there is to eat. On days like this, the temptation to order pizza is strong! And many times I don’t resist it very well.
When I do order pizza, I always feel like I’ve failed my money saving ways. That isn’t necessarily the case since we don’t use credit to pay and it doesn’t happen frequently. But I still wish I could stop ordering last minute pizza.
You need a plan! Let’s put one together.
