I’ve got a premature spring cleaning itch. The weather has been nice enough to throw open the windows (odd for February in Ohio). But I think I’m just trying to clean away all the germs that keep making their way into our home!
Being Type A, I tend to prefer to use a checklist when I clean. Otherwise, I spin my wheels cleaning a bit of this and a bit of that. I’d rather know where I’ve been and where I’m going.
How about you?

Even if you’ve got a pile of kids, you can learn how to organize a large family in a small house. These tips will give you breathing room!
Bang, bang, bang. “Hurry up!! I’ve got to go!”
That’s the sound of life all day long when you’ve got a family of 8 living in a house with one bathroom.
No matter how many times I remind the kids to not wait until the last possible minute to use the bathroom, it falls on deaf ears. There’s usually a line for the bathroom that looks like we’re at a rock concert.
There’s an old song that says “Love grows best in little houses.”
And yeah, it’s sure taught us a lot of good lessons. But I still have days that this small house makes me want to pull all of my hair out.
Still, there are some ways you can make your small house feel more liveable. Here are a few that have worked wonders for us….

My poor daughter. She missed her Christmas party at school due to germs. And on Valentine’s Day, the germs paid her another visit. She desperately wanted to go to school, but I obviously couldn’t spread those germs through her classmates.
Instead, we popped some popcorn, I made some hot chocolate, and we watched Tangled. Not a substitute for fun with her friends, but at least it turned her frown upside down.
Sometimes you’ve just got to make the most of your situation. I hope I can teach her to look for the good!

When I first decided to become a blogger, like most people I wanted to know what I was getting myself into. Blogging is one of those things that looks simple from the outside, but is actually more complicated than other businesses.

I was standing at the bathroom sink in a pee soaked shirt, brushing my teeth. I desperately wanted a shower. Instead, I was listening for the 3 year old who had, by my calculations, a 50/50 chance of throwing up before I could even start the water.
The germs had infested our home. Your garden variety stomach bug had hit some of us. A nasty sore throat/respiratory illness was going through the rest of us.
Moms take a vow, sometimes unbeknownst to us, that we will never be sick. Even when the germs hit us, we can’t fully take time off to get better. Especially when our family is feeling awful and relying on us to take even better care of them than usual.

When I walked in the door from a meeting I couldn’t miss, I couldn’t help but joke that our living room looked like a Civil War hospital scene. At one point this week, all 7 of us were sick at home. It’s not much fun to power through and make sure everyone is still cared for, but I still haven’t located the phone number for my substitute mom. So on we go.
We spent a lot of time watching Netflix and eating popsicles this week. Good thing those are frugal choices, anyway.

January was a big month. I was so busy blogging every day of the month that I didn’t have time to spend money. That’s not a bad thing!
I think it’s great when you can find frugal hobbies and activities to occupy your time. Not that us parents have a lot of free time, anyway.
