Inside: The importance of sports in life go well beyond the foul lines of the field. Forget about scores and statistics…there are important lessons to be learned!

I held my breath. The ball was headed towards short stop, and we needed a good play to end the inning. I knew it would take a spectacular move for my son to make the play, but he’d done it before. But it wasn’t meant to be this time. The ball bounced off of his shoe and headed out to left field.
He was clearly aggravated, but he ran to catch the cut off throw. And he finished the play. I was relieved to see his teammate walk over and give him a quick pat on the back. Our third baseman had a knack for using just the right words to bring our son back to calm so he could get back to the game.
Our family is stacked with baseball lovers. But for us, the importance of sports in life isn’t about winning or playing at a professional level. It’s really about the strong lessons they take away from the field.
The key here is letting your kids learn these lessons. It’s tempting as parents to want to save them from their feelings. But if you let them learn how to deal on their own, they’ll be better for it.

“Mommy! I need my diaper changed, my, my diaper changed!”
Not only can my 2 year old sign a Lady Gaga parody song that his father taught him about diaper change time, but he can also identify when he has a dirty diaper.

Inside: Being a Mom is no picnic! But the moment you have a child, you become a sister in the motherhood sorority. This is my open letter to moms.
There’s something special about being a mom. It’s like an all inclusive sorority. If you put two moms in a room together, it won’t be long until they are talking about the joys and struggles of being a mother.
Today I want to salute you, my fellow Mommys. We’re in this together!
An Open Letter to Moms

Dear Mom Who Is Still Pregnant,
You are just learning what being a Mom is all about. You’re reading everything you can get your hands on. Learning how to diaper your baby without going broke. Should you bottle feed or breast feed? What type of pediatrician should you be looking for, and how can your body possibly get any bigger than it feels right now?
This is the hard part.

Having a delicious Easter brunch buffet menu is a fun way to enjoy the Easter celebration. But you need recipes that you can make ahead of time… because who wants to miss the egg hunt?
Easter is such a joyous time!
It’s one of our family’s favorite days. After our church celebration, we always come home to have a special brunch together.
It used to be that I would spend most of my Easter morning in the kitchen cooking up everyone’s favorite foods. And you know, that tends to flat out suck the fun out of the day for mom.
(Because even if you love to cook like I do…getting a big meal together, especially in a time crunch when everyone is “Huuuuuuungry…is it done yeeeeeet???” is I’m-not-raising-my-voice-you-are kind of stressful.)
But who wants to miss out on the joy of your kids enjoying their Easter treats and hunting for eggs while you slave over a stove?
I needed a way to spend less time in the kitchen and more time soaking up some childhood joy.
So I began my search for foods that were still super yummy…but not so fussy that I had to spend the morning slaving over them.
It took some years for all of the right foods to come together. But now we have what I think is the perfect Easter brunch menu.
The rules for these Easter recipes are simple: the food be easy to make ahead, special for Easter, and (obviously) they must taste delicious!

Moms are tired.
So tired.
Tired of cleaning the same mess every day. Tired of losing our tempers after having the same kids clean up the same mess for the 10th time in a row.
