5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week 17

It’s Friday, that favored day of the week where people are almost as excited about the weekend coming as they are about another installment of 5 Ways We’ve Saved Money This Week!

In case you weren’t waiting anxiously for this post (is that sarcasm overkill so early in this article?) and have stumbled upon this series for the first time, here are the rules.  Each week I tell you 5 new and different ways that our family has managed to save money in the past week.  I try not to repeat myself, and I try not to mention coffee.  (Except this one time when I did.  But the hubby wrote that post, so I’m not sure it even counts.)

If you want to read the entire series, you can check it out here.

If you’d like to make sure you don’t miss out on future 5 Ways posts, you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.

My S.M.A.R.T. Goals for an Awesome 2016

My S.M.A.R.T. Goals for an Awesome 2016

There are two times of the year that I feel especially compelled to examine what I am accomplishing with my life.  One is the start of a new school year.  The other is New Year’s Day.

I’m a little boring and predictable like that.  But that’s ok.

During the first week of each new year, I sit down with paper, pencil, and the hubby.  We discuss what we’d like to accomplish with our new year.  Some years we feel excited to achieve big things.  Some years we feel tired and just try to finish nagging tasks.

I am excited that 2016 is going to be a “big thing” year!  Some people call goals like this a BHAG.  Big, hairy, audacious goals.  You can only accomplish a BHAG if you are in the right frame of mind.  It’s not something you can go into half heartedly.  So I’m happy to find that both myself and my hubby are in that frame of mind.  2016 is going to be an awesome year!  (Because we have determined to make the best of it regardless of circumstances.)

Work the Plan: Goals for the Week 1/4

It’s a fresh new year!  I just love a new start.  I embrace New Year’s Resolutions completely.  (I’ll be posting mine soon.  Maybe a little late, but better late than never…right?)  The fresh start of a new week with new goals is fun, but a whole new year feels just wonderful to me.

Not everyone agrees with me.  Some of you probably think the new year is bunk and just another day.  That’s fine, too!  Whatever way you find the motivation to do the things you really want to do with your life, find that motivation and hang on to it.

Welcome to another Monday morning.  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!  We had several gatherings to attend, and still have one more to go.  Our family has two birthdays to celebrate at the same time as Christmas and New Year’s, so it makes for a lot of chaos this time of year.  It’s tough to get much else done, but the extra family time is worth it.

I’ve spent the past couple of days cleaning and trying to organize the new mess, and I’m still not finished!  How is the organizing going at your house?

Wishing You and Yours a Very Blessed Christmas!

Christmas

I’d like to wish you and your family and friends a very blessed Christmas!

And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”  Luke 2:4-14

Have a peace filled day.
